The Birchwood School is a small
community of dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and
inquisitive students. As a result, we are able to work
together to address the needs of our students as they grow
and develop. Our role is to cultivate and nurture a love of
learning, a quest for knowledge, and an understanding of the
important contributions each student makes.
As a foundation for learning, we at
Birchwood are committed to creating a positive climate in
which academic and social growth may thrive. A supportive
“safe” school is a critical piece of a student’s development
– one which shapes a positive self-esteem, while building
academic success. Our focus at Birchwood is to develop and
strengthen critical thinking, problem solving, and reasoning
skills, as these apply to every aspect of a student’s life –
both in and out of the classroom. Our goal, as a school
community, is to continue to reinforce in our students a
respect for self and others, a capacity to see the many
sides of a given issue, and an ability to make sound
choices. Promoting these ideals will best prepare our
students for any and all challenges, as they continue
through their educational experiences.
Through continued communication and a
commitment to excellence, we will succeed in helping our
students develop as happy, productive participants of our
community. One goal of education is to impart knowledge.
However, the lasting mark education can make is to equip
students with the necessary skills for achieving their own
definition of success.
