Message from the Principal

The Birchwood School is characterized by an atmosphere of mutual respect and consideration among all members of the school community. Students, staff and community feel a sense of ownership and pride in the school.  Parents and faculty work together to emphasize the value of education and monitor the academic performance of students.  Open communication exists among all groups and parental support is evident by the willingness to serve on advisory committees, task forces, and participation at special events.

The Birchwood School is committed to the continued improvement of teaching and learning. Toward that end, there is a core of common learning aligned with state standards and provision is made for specialized programs and services for students with special needs, abilities and interests. In addition, students are expected to demonstrate their best efforts, teachers help all students achieve performance standards and there is constant effort to provide positive reinforcement to students of all ability levels.

The faculty at the Birchwood School is professional, motivated, enthusiastic, creative and dedicated. Staff members possess expertise in their curricular areas and in teaching techniques and provision is further made to give staff members the opportunity to stay current in their fields.
