This collection of prose is the culmination of many weeks of work initiated by our writer in residence, Arthur T. Wilson, and completed under the guidance of Stony Brook teachers—Mrs. Wear, Mrs. Blaha, Mrs. Cirillo, Mrs. Mein, Mrs. Ollo, Mrs. Posey, and Mrs. White.
In Appreciation
Arthur Wilson, playwright, poet, and prose writer, spent four inspiring class sessions with the fourth grade students at the Stony Brook School, in Rockaway Township, New Jersey. He has a special gift that he shares with us. All children are made to feel as if they are vital writers with important ideas. As a writer in residence for the New Jersey Writers Project, he provided opportunities for the students to write prose on various themes and topics. The New Jersey State Council of the Arts and Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey made the New Jersey Writers Project possible. The fourth grade students and teachers would like to thank Mr. Wilson for his guidance as well as Dr. McCluskey and the Stony Brook PTA for their support and generous assistance in obtaining this grant.

Remember,
the tree is older than you are
and you might find stories
in its branches.
--from “Arbol de Limon,” by Jennifer Clement
Yellow feels like a lemon slipping through your fingers. It sounds like crinkly, crumbly paper. It tastes like a golden delicious apple. These are just a few of the vivid images that bubbled up from the minds of fifth-graders at Stony Brook Elementary School during a writer’s residency in November/December 2004.
For four days, students worked with Philadelphia author and journalist Anndee Hochman, creating stories from the raw material of their memories, imaginations and daily lives. They learned and practiced using tools from the “writer’s toolbox” of sensory images, similes, powerful verbs and authentic dialogue. With their “editors’ hats” on, they revised their own work and helped each other make their stories stronger.
By the end, students had written three pieces: a description, rich in sensory detail, of their “imagination studio,” a story about a physical experience and an expanded memory that began with conversation. Topics ranged from the hilarious to the bittersweet; there were stories of a basement filled with Legos, a first visit to Egypt, a new chocolate-lab puppy, the smell of anesthetic “like wet garbage.” One student wrote of nearly drowning—the memory of salt, and sand in her mouth. Another recalled the glee and pride of becoming toilet-trained. A third wrote of the death of his beloved fish, Catty.
Each story is a gift, an offering from the writer’s heart and a reminder that—in both celebration and sorrow—we are never alone. We hope you savor these pieces as much as we enjoyed writing them.

Today I am me, plain old me and I am proud of it!
The Artist
By Alexandra
One day a cute little boy named Brian was painting a picture of a planet. Brian was an extremely smart 4 year old and could already read and write. His parents sent him to first grade on his fourth birthday. Now it was Brian’s fifth birthday. He wished to become a scientist and make diagrams of the planets. Once Brian is in second grade he will have an art class. Brian is now in second grade and his first art class is today. “Today,” said his art teacher, “We will be making pictures of our favorite things.” Brian was so exited to paint a picture of a planet. The art teacher walked around, looking at all the students work. “My, my,” said the art teacher, “What do we have here?” I’m painting a planet,” said Brian. Later that day the teacher pulled Brian aside and said, “How would you like to be in a special art class with older children who do work just as well as you?” “That would be wonderful,” said Brian.
When he got to the new art class the older children laughed at how small he was. This made Brian very upset. The art teacher introduced herself as Mrs. K which was short for Mrs. Kurpunkly. Mrs. K comforted Brian and he soon he felt better. Brian made another planet and the older children started to respect him more. By the end of the art class Brian had made friends with two of the older boys. Every day the children were getting better at drawing, painting, and sculpting. Brian was loving the art class and wanted to continue going to it forever. When summer came he became sad. His parents sent him to a summer art class and Brian continued drawing, painting, and sculpting for the rest of his life.
Yesterday I Was
By Angela
Yesterday I was the wind on a hard winter day.
Today I am a sweet book on a shelf waiting to be read.
Tomorrow I will be a cute puppy waiting to be played with.
Next week I will be a baby bird learning how to fly.
Except for now, I am just me, myself, and that’s good for now.
Peace on Earth
By Angelo
Once upon a time there were two stick figures, one named Bob and one named Sarah. Sarah was mean and didn’t want peace and prosperity like Bob. She kicked his toys and was always angry. This annoyed Bob. He taught her about love and peace. She never kicked his circle toys or his square toys ever again. Now they were both determined to get peace! The next day they discussed on the beach how they were going to bring peace to Earth. It was hard for them to think about it, but they had found how they were going to get peace on earth! They would ask NASA to get all the countries to give up their weapons. Then NASA would pack all the missiles and guns into a big Saturn 5 rocket (it’s the biggest kind of rocket.) After that they would send the rocket on a course for the sun. The Saturn 5 rocket would burn up with all the guns inside it. So NASA got all the countries to give their weapons up (for a price) and packed them into the rocket. As it was about to take off, they had to abort because there wasn’t enough fuel. The two friends quickly got more fuel from a store, and then they packed that into the rocket as well. Bob and Sarah stood back and watched the humongous rocket take off. Now all the bombs, missiles, and guns were going to be sizzled in the sun! From then on everyone was happy with the two stick figures.
A Nurse or Football Player?
By Casey
Once there was a center on the Jets named Goodwin. He wanted to be a nurse. His mom said, “Wait until the end of the season.’’ He was so angry because he had to wait to be a nurse. Goodwin was really competitive at the games because he was so angry. One day he was in the locker room and he told Martin, “Don’t tell anyone, but I like the Steelers also.’’ Martin froze and the whole locker room froze also. Pennington couldn’t believe his ears! They all got angry, kicked him out of the locker room, and he ran home to his mommy. His mom was a therapist and she made him feel much better. The next game he told the coach, ‘’I want to be a nurse,’’ Then the coach said, ‘’NO WAY!’’ After that they didn’t talk for the rest of the season. Finally it was the last game and they lost. After the game Goodwin ran his little heart out to the hospital and he got an interview. After the interview he got the job of being a nurse. One time he had helped Chad Pennington at the hospital because Chad broke his ankles. After that, he never ever saw the Jets team again! One time he saw a person getting an X-RAY and she had a jets jersey on. Goodwin laughed to himself as he proudly put on his white nurse’s uniform. Now he was doing what he had always wanted to do!

One day Kelly and Sara walked to school together. It was such a nice day! The birds were chirping and the sun was shining as bright as fire. Sara strolled outside with her book report and asked Kelly where hers was. Kelly was going to do a book report about outer space, but she forgot to do any of it. Kelly’s face was as red as an apple. She screamed, “I have got to get to the computer lab before science class!” Kelly and Sara went through half a day of school, but no one would let the girls go to the computer lab. Then Sara thought of an idea. Maybe we can sneak out of lunch and playtime. First Kelly disguised herself as the janitor, but that did not work. Then she made herself look like a different lunch lady. Sadly that did not work either. Finally she just sneaked out and that surprisingly worked. So Kelly and Sara ran to the computer room and tried to get done before Science class. Although it did go into math, they go it all done. Finally it was science class. Kelly made it in time and got an A+ on her report. Also Sara and Kelly became best friends.
A Very Rich Writer
By Daniel
One fine spring day a very rich man, named Bob, lived in England. He was very happy, because he was a writer! Although he was a good writer, he wanted to be famous for his writing talent. He asked everyone to buy his work to make him famous. Bob asked the King of England to help him, but the King would not help. People said,” Ask the president of the United States of America to help you with this!” He bought a jet and flew to Washingtin D.C. There he saw the president break dancing to Batovan’s music. He was back flipping, front flipping, and more. Bob offered to give the President $999,999,999,999,999.99 if he made him famous. The President said,” I shall make you famous. Now hand over the money." The President laughed at the King's loss. Now Bob was a famous and rich writer in America. As for the president he was now $999,999,999,999,999.99 richer!

By Gionna
One day Caroline was playing in her sand box. Then she was playing tag, but guess what happened? She fell on the sandbox and got a HUMUNGUS cut!!! So she called her mommy really fast and said to her mommy, “I have a booboo.” Her mother was very surprised! ”O my stars! I have to get you to the emergency room and fast!” Caroline was very worried! She thought she would have to get a plastic head. So her mom put her in her car seat and called her daddy at work and her mom said, “John, come home quickly, Caroline has to get stitches! So Caroline and her parents were in the emergency room for almost a half of an hour!!! Finally the doctor called Caroline into the room. She was very nervous. Then the doctor looked at her head and said, ”Oh my, that’s a really big cut!! I better get my tools for this!” Caroline was very scared. When the doctor came back he put numb gel on her head and then the doctor said, “Calm down this will only take a couple minutes.” Then the doctor slowly gave Caroline one stitch at a time. After she got her stitches she was very calm. “Since you were such a great patient I will give you 3 lollipops,” said the doctor. Caroline lived happily ever after.
Glad to Be Alive in 2005

I am still alive in 2005 and I am very happy. I like to do many things but fishing is the best for me. I am very happy when I get to go fishing. I went to Florida and dreamed about all the fishing I could do there. One day I went to Sea World and saw a shark. Also, I went to my uncle’s house and went fishing in the bay. All of a sudden I caught a small shark. It was bluish and was jumping on the end of my line. I held on and got the shark to shore. Now you knew my favorite day of my life.

Glad To Be Alive in 2005
By Jonathon
I am glad to be alive in 2005 because there was a lot of sadness in 2004. I don’t like that people died in 2004 in a tsunami. It was on the news and TV for along time. They told us how things changed in that country and how families were sad. It was sad that day and I’m glad it is done now. Also, my uncle died in 2004 because he was old. He was a funny man and a nice person. I went to visit him a lot and he took me places. I miss him since he died. I went to his funeral with all my family. I will remember 2004 because a person I knew died and a lot of people that I heard about died.
The Magic Shovel
By Joseph
One fine day, Jim was looking through the dump and found a shovel. The shovel had writing and it said, “The person who holds the shovel will get the thing that they most desire, but only with dirt on it, dirt from a zoo. Jim thought that this was great. He asked his friend for a job at the zoo because he worked there. He said, ‘’Yes.’’ When he got the job he started out feeding the animals. This did not help him. Then he was promoted to cage cleaner a month later. Now this helped him. The next day he did a great job cleaning the cages, except he forgot the magic shovel. Then the next day he got the right shovel and got it full of dirt. Then he saw something weird, there was more writing on the shovel. It said, ”Also the cage has to be an elephant cage, sorry.’’ He was sad. He finally got into the elephant cage and got the dirt all over the shovel. Then a mysterious glow came from the shovel. The shovel was telling Jim to make a wish. He was about to make a wish when he realized that he was happy being at the zoo and he didn’t need all of that money. Jim wished that he could work at the zoo for the rest of his life. Jim put back the shovel and worked happily at the zoo for the rest of his life.

She went to her recital and got 1st place. Her dance teacher, her mother, and her father were especially proud of her. The dream of becoming a true ballerina was coming true!
Glad to be Alive in 2005
By Kristie
Dear Grandma,
I am glad to be alive in 2005 because I know both you and Pop- Pop have passed away. I’m so glad to be alive in 2005 because every day on the news they show that someone has died and I’m glad that I’m not going through that bad feeling. I am glad to be alive in 2005 because I have a dream to grow up, get married, and have children to make my world a better place. I cry once in a while knowing that I can’t see you or Pop-Pop, but I have all my family and friends to hold me when I have tears in my eyes. It is good knowing that I have people there for me. It’s hard some times knowing that there are all these people dieing in my world. As the Tsunami just past, there are a smaller amount of people in this world. I have a lot of friends right now and I hope that I will always have them. I hope you know that this letter means a lot to me and I hope it means a lot to you too. I didn’t really know you, although my dad does tell a lot of stories about you and Pop-Pop. I am sure that you knew me very well. It is nice knowing that I have someone to talk to when I’m sad and know that you won’t say something back that I don’t want to hear! I really hope that you know that the reason I’m writing to you is because you’re still in my heart. You give me confidence in myself and really give me the power to be the strong girl that you would want me to be. Thank you for being in my heart and you always will be.
Love always,
Kristie

On Thanksgiving break my grandparents took my mother’s side of the family to see Lion King on Broadway. My cousins from Wyoming came to see it too! They sat with me. My parents took a day off work to go with us. Everyone had good seats. My sister, cousins & I sat in the second row. The costumes were amazing! The animals looked so cool! You felt as if you were in Africa seeing the animals! There was even a machine that showed many gazelles jumping at different times. There was a bison machine that showed thousands of bison going off a steep drop-off. It was a great play to see. I liked to spend time with my family.
Dr.Angelo’s Evil Freeze
By Shannon
Once there were eleven scouts. Their names were Jonathon, Zach, Krissa, Alexandra, Sara, Angela, Courtney, Joseph, Alexa, Samantha, and Casey. They went on a camping trip. The scouts were in their tent which was in the middle of Flintstone Park on Elmwood Lane. They were just sitting there so they were becoming bored. Then Krissa screamed on the top of her lungs, “Let’s play charades!” “YEAH!” Casey and Angela screamed together at once. Since it was her idea, Krissa went first as a diver in the ocean. Then Casey went and she was a surprised person with her mouth dropped to the floor and her hands on her cheeks. All of a sudden, something happened. Krissa’s and Casey’s faces turned an icyblue and they couldn’t move. The other scouts thought Krissa and Casey were just pulling a prank on them. So the just kept playing charades. Every one played and froze except Angela. She knew something was happening and if she didn’t do something, who would? Angela ran outside with a glass of cherry juice. She found The Evil Dr. Angelo. Angelo hated it when scouts had fun. He had a freeze ray and he was the one who froze the other scouts. Angela was smart enough to know that if she were to pour her cherry juice on the freeze ray, the freeze ray would break and everyone would become unfrozen. So Angela did what she had to do. It turns out she saved everyone. When the scouts warmed up, Sam said to Angela, “Boy, that was a freezing night!”

We Have To Move
By Connor
Once upon a time there was a snake, a balloon, and a leg. The leg’s name was Jeff, the balloon’s name was George, and the snake’s name was Derek. They lived at the very top of a tree.
Derek, the snake and Jeff, the leg were tree mates. They slept on George, who could talk. One day they heard their tree was getting chopped down in 30 days. They had to move to a different tree, but how? They tried to come up with some plans to move and where to go. They couldn’t come up with anything.
One day the balloon had an idea. George said, “I can fly you to a different tree.”
“OK” said Derek and Jeff. So that’s what they did. The new tree was bigger and better. It talked and everything. It had 50 branches so the leg and the snake had plenty of rooms to live in. Derek had a special branch for his snake- skin that would shed. Then he had another branch that he just hung out on and wrapped himself around. Jeff had a special branch that was really big that had soccer balls, footballs, and kickballs to kick.
And so the three friends spent the next 30 years happily hanging around their tree together until their next move.
Sally and Sam
By Daniela
Once there was a dog named Sally and a dog named Sam. They were Golden Retriever puppies. They both wanted an owner because they heard owners were really nice. One time they got so tired of just dreaming about an owner they went on a journey for an owner. All the other dogs wanted an owner too, even the mean dog, Sparky. He was gray and mean. He was a taller kind of Terrier.
Sam thought the park would be a good place to find an owner. They got all ready and went to the park, but Sparky got there first. They saw a nice girl. They tried to go over there, but Sparky got there first. She smiled and then saw Sparky growl at them, and she started to frown. Then her mom called, “Come on Mackenzie, we can come back tomorrow." Mackenzie left with her mom. Sparky started to chase Sally and Sam. Mackenzie saw them and shouted for Sparky to shoo. Sparky slowly walked away with his tail down between his legs.
That day Sally and Sam were in luck! Mackenzie and her mom were looking for two new puppies! She asked her mom if she could keep them. Her mom looked closely at the two dogs. Finally she said we could take them home and see. Mackenzie was delighted. Mackenzie’s mom decided to keep Sally and Sam. Surprisingly, she named them Sally and Sam! They had so much fun with Mackenzie. She never got tired of playing with her two dogs.
Shuga Falls
Once upon a time there was a square named Blocky, a tree named Plank, aww what the heck! They lived in a land of candy called Shuga Falls. They were best friends.
Plank and Blocky wished for money because they were very poor. They also needed the money so that they could afford television. And they couldn’t afford any toys! Of course the reason for that is because of the EVIL Lord Licorice.
Lord Licorice is a good Twizzler that expired. Lord Licorice would not give Plank and Blocky their wish. Lord Licorice has no friends. Just a few chocolate bats to keep him company. Then he drank water from Shuga Falls and became nice. Then he gave them their wish.
One Bad Day

One beautiful morning there was a five-mile wheel-chair race going on in Greenfield, Connecticut. George McCarthy entered at the judge’s stable. The judge’s stables were in a close barn by a pile of manure. The Miriam, the judge didn’t think that George could enter the race because from his waist down he had been paralyzed in a horrendous car accident. George didn’t get much practice until 2 coaches were called to help him.
“It was very hard for George,” said Coach1.
Coach2 replied,”You’re right, Coach. I think that maybe we should tell George that we will have to train more seriously in order for him to win the wheel-chair race. We are going to train George McCarthy from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. instead of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.” Coach1 agreed.
So next Monday Coach1 sprinted with Coach2 to George’s house to tell him the exciting news. Coach1 knocked rapidly on George’s front door. George rolled to the front door in his wheel chair and he opened up the door. George was astonished to see his two coaches standing in front of him at 7:30 p.m., when his class was over!
“Come on in.” said George. The coaches explained the new schedule to George. George was up and ready for a long 12-hour day of training. George rolled into the stadium where he will be training. After a couple of months George McCarthy was ready for the wheel- chair race.
On Monday afternoon, Coach1 and Coach2 drove George McCarthy to the judge’s stable. This was located in a barn, next to the smelly pile of manure. Here he could sign up for the five-mile wheel-chair race. Coach1 and Coach2 had to do the talking for George McCarthy.
“Miriam, please allow George to enter the wheel-chair race!” The coaches had worked with him for about two months. George McCarthy had really improved on working for this long 5-mile race. Every day starting at 6 a.m. through 7 p.m. he rolled at least 3 miles. They have worked on this race since April and it is already June! Through out this time George wheeled 83 miles!! “So please think about this for a very long time.” demanded Coach1 & Coach2!
A few moments later, George McCarthy, Coach1 & Coach2 left for home. They were waiting all night until the phone rang. George McCarthy answered the phone. It was Miriam, the wheel-chair race judge. She said, “George McCarthy I have some news to give you and your coaches! Tomorrow morning I want you to be in the wheel-chair race! You are going to be in the first row. See you there!’’ George screamed, “Coach1, Coach2!” George told them the good news. “Wow,” said Coach1 & Coach2 at the same time.
Soon early morning arrived. George and his coaches met with Miriam. George was allowed to do a run through the trail. Two hours later the race began. George was in 2nd place when all of a sudden Tom, who was in 1st place, tipped! George McCarthy won the race! He received a gold medal from Miriam. George’s coaches were very happy. After George received his medal there was a celebration!
Two days later George had his 49th birthday. George showed his gold medal to his family. They were all very proud of George for working so hard in order to win the race. After George’s family and friends went home George went to the barn. As soon as he got there, George told Miriam, “Thank you for allowing me to enter the race. I hope you now understand why I wanted to enter the race. Even though I am paralyzed from the waist down, it doesn’t matter because we’re all going to be racing in wheel-chairs.”
“I’m sorry for giving you and your coaches such a hard time,” replied Miriam. George called both his coaches and told them to come to the barn. Miriam apologized to Coach1 and then Coach2. While all this was happening George was rolling on the racing tracks. When he came back he and his coaches went to George’s house for supper. After that Coach1 left leaving George with Coach2. The next day George went on a roll down the road where the race was held. About half way down the road George’s wheel- chair tipped and George fell off onto a big rock. After being rushed to the hospital, sadly George died. George McCarthy was remembered because he was the only one in the race who was paralyzed in the wheel chair. Yet, he still won after a tremendous amount of hard work.
Going to Win!

“Katie, Katie where are you?” Jake shouted.
I’m over here Jake! Are you bored?” Katie asked.
“YES!” Jake answered. On that day it was too hot to run and not windy enough to fly kites! The children had nothing to do. They decided to go see Kelly. She would know a game. They went looking for Kelly. When they found her they said, “Hi!” and asked, “Do you know any good games?” Unfortunately, Kelly was as bored as they were. As they walked home they ran into Mark, Jenny, Allie, and Carrie.
”Guess what,” Allie exclaimed. “At the park they are having talent show!” The children had just an hour to practice.
“Too late, I’m going to win. You don’t stand a chance!” John chanted. The children told John to go away, but he didn’t listen. John laughed as he left to get ready. The children got to work. They brought back instruments and microphones from their houses. After about 45 minutes of dancing and singing they were ready!
After all the acts finished performing the kids nervously waited to hear the winners announced! They counted down, “5th place, 4th place, 3rd place, 2nd place, AND THE WINNER IS…………………!" YIPPEE! They were the winners! So much for a boring day!
The Treasure Hunt
By Jamie
Once upon a time somewhere in The Mystical Forest in the land of La La Land, there lived a snail shell named Snaily Shell. A snail, named Snaily, who was wearing a New York Mets baseball cap that he won with a winning lottery ticket also lived there. A very beautiful flower named Flora and a bright red colored balloon named Balloney lived there too. They all were the very best of friends and promised that they would always be friends until the day they died/popped.
One day the best friends all decided to pay a visit to Snaily Shell. So off they went, skipping to and fro. Finally, they reached Snaily Shell’s small but peaceful hut. “Hello Snaily Shell!” they shouted. Snaily Shell didn’t reply. “ Maybe he’s not in the mood to talk,” they all shrugged. After a couple of moments, everyone was silent. They were so bored. They didn’t know what to do or what to say. Suddenly Flora had an idea. “I know what we can do!” she jumped for joy. She never had an idea before. “Let’s have a treasure hunt!”
“Yeah!” everybody agreed. So off they went to search high and low, near and far. (They always skipped together.) Suddenly, Larry the lobster jumped right in front of them. “What are you doing?” he asked spontaneously. “We’re off to find some treasure, we really want to find some treasure,” said Ballooney.
“Well, you can’t,” replied Larry the loony lobster.
“Why not?” The things wanted to know.
“Because I said so.”
The creatures and things talked together and decided to ignore Larry. They knew that they could find the treasure without him. So off they went, skipping to find the loot. They finally got the loot that they always wanted to have and they lived happily.
The Lesson
By Jason
One happy day in Rockaway NJ everybody was happy but there was one person who was not happy. He was a crabby boy who had no friends. He liked to scare off the little kids who were really happy because their happy smiles annoyed him. One day I was walking down the street and heard a person screaming at the top of his lungs. He was being chased by the really crabby boy who can’t stand happy kids. He yelled and yelled hoping that someone would hear him. It turned out that the person who was being chased by the crabby boy was my friend Eric. He ran like crazy through the town. Eric asked me for help to get away from the really mean and crabby boy. I decided to help by teaching the boy a lesson. I made sure that the crabby boy never hurt or was mean to anyone ever again.
Tickle Woods
By Jesse
Once when Muffs was playing snack-ball with Mickey, Cheric came onto the middle of the field and pushed the ball into Tickle Woods. Cheric was the meanest guy in LaLa Land.
Spongy said he could bounce to it, but there were no spongify carpets in sight.
Tickle Woods was a maze, so they might get lost!
When/if they get the ball back, they’d trade it in for an X-Box. They went to get help from Glassy, Balloonoh, Birdboy, Backstop, & Eye-Guy to search Tickle Woods. “Cheric moved some of the shrubs!” said Glassy.
“I would go up, up into the skies and give you directions if I had eyes.” said Balloonoh.
“I bet Eye Jr. can fix that. There are many things he has seen. He’ll help you, you see, well, you know what I mean!” said Eye-Guy.
“I will help!!! I’m a champion at difficult mazes! All I’m not good at is tying shoe laces!” squeaked Eye Jr. with a chuckle.
“ENOUGH WITH THIS CHIT-CHAT!!!!!” Birdboy shouted at once.
”Stop it! Shut your pie whole, YOU FEATHER-BRAINED DUNCE!!!” shouted Eye Jr. with rage. ”You should be locked up in that one yard tall cage!”
“DO YOU MIND? WE NEED TO GET TO OUR FLOAT & FIND!” said Muffs. So off they went.
“Left, Right, OTHER RIGHT! STRAIGHT….” said Eye Jr. After a half hour, Glassy, Balloonoh, Birdboy, Backstop, Muffs, Mickey, Eye-Guy, & Eye Jr. found the ball…AND A SPONGIFY CARPET!!! They grabbed the ball and jumped onto the carpet, which sent them flying into the air and to the mall. They said to the person at the front counter that they wanted to trade the ball for an X-box, but the clerk said there were none left. Instead they purchased a Game Cube, and everyone was happy.

The Bank
By Mackenzie
Once upon a time Thing1 and Thing2 were doing a funny dance on the way to the bank to get billions of dollars when they met up with Miss Finny on 5th Ave. Miss Finny had a metallic red party dress on and three different pairs of shoes in the bright green coach bag she was carrying.
When Miss Finny, Thing1, andThing2 got to the bank Mrs. Trombone was working to find Mr. Peanuts’ shoes in the Lost and Found. Suddenly, Thing1 shouted “Hey! Isn’t this your shoe, Mr. Peanuts?” “Yes, it is my shoe. Where did you find it?” asked Mr. Peanuts?” “It was on your foot the whole time!" said Thing1.
It was 10:00PM and Miss Finny, Thing 1, and Thing 2 were closing up the bank. Suddenly a sneaky and sly robber snuck into the bank and stole all the money from the vault in the back of the bank. The ear piercing burglar alarm went off and the cock-eyed police came to rescue them and stopped the snoopy bank robber from taking all the money from the money vault.
Epilogue
From now on Miss Finny, Thing 1 and Thing 2 learned not to keep the money vault open in the middle of darkness at night because of midnight robbers in the city.

Once there was an alien who was evil. The alien would have a lot of inventions. The alien had no name, and he wanted world domination. The alien had only one eye, and he lived in a warehouse where nobody knew where it was.
One day an alarm went off in the bank. The bank has been robbed. The robber’s name was Smith. The cops lost Smith, but Smith went into the warehouse. That warehouse was the exact same one with the alien and his inventions. “Hello, is anybody there?” Smith asked.
In the shadows there was a noise and it went on and off.
Smith was not scared so he walked toward the shadows, “Come out.” The alien came out of the shadows yelling, “Get out of my house!”
Smith shouted, “No!” and the fight began.
It took all night for them to end the fight. But right before the end a smiley face came and said, ’’Let’s have peace.’’
They settled on an agreement and never fought again. The alien and Smith lived happily ever after except when they went to prison forever! The Alien went to prison because the police saw
That he had all of those inventions and he planned to take over the world with them. Smith went to prison because he robbed the bank.

Once upon a time there was a cat named Puss, a snowman named Jack Frost, and an evil raccoon named Racket. Racket was very greedy and NEVER let anybody get their way. One day Puss and JF (short for Jack Frost) decided they were going to the Caribbean Islands for vacation. Puss had his pilot’s license. So he put JF in his cooler so he wouldn’t melt. Puss loaded him onto the plane and took off for some fun in the sun.
Racket had stowed away on the plane and the first chance he got he pushed JF’s cooler in front of the heater! JF melted completely! When they stopped, Puss checked on him. He was all melted! So they stopped at Antarctica to fix JF. Puss and JF knew that they must be careful because Racket was trying to ruin their vacation. Puss placed JF carefully on the plane. There was no time to search the plane for Racket if they wanted to get to the Caribbean on schedule. Finally, they landed in the Caribbean! Little did they know that Racket was up to more tricks! Racket put catnip in Puss’s drink. He was bouncing off the walls, beds, and windows! Then JF slapped Puss’s face, “Snap out of it!” What ever Racket threw at them they would get through it. Racket was laughing so hard at Puss that he didn’t realize the left over catnip had spilled it into HIS drink. Racket started twitching and scratching like a mad man. As a matter of fact last time Puss and JF saw Racket he jumped out the window and was ……..

It’s fun to run in 2005,
All you need is some fun
You’ll be with everyone.
It’s fun to play
It’s fun to do it everyday.
I love to play but not everyday.
Winters get cold, too cold to go swimming
If you do you might as well be frigid.
You’re happy you’re sad you feel real bad.
It’s fun to run with the sun,
Over the hills and valleys,
You know the way to go
When you turn a corner,
You feel like you’re flying through the air
Like a plane clinging to a hair.
Horses running through the fields
Grazing in the grass
Wondering what time it was in the past.
I know you know the way to go in 2005!
Once Upon a Penny
By Scott
A few days ago there was a girl named Sally. Her dream was to be rich. So she tried to make the dream come true. She called all her friends and family to bring their pillow cases, to carry the money. She was going to find pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars on the street. She was going to New York to find all the money. So they all went to New York and searched for the money in the streets. So when they got about 100 dollars, one of the 100 dollars had a hidden camera. The camera was from Bill Gates who was trying to steal the money so he can still be the richest person in the world when he heard about the plan because he also put a speaker in the camera too. After that, he bought the address book to find where Sally lives. So Bill Gates went over there in his private helicopter to Sally’s house. He knocked on the door and then when the door opened, Sally was there and all of her friends and family were watching football. He sent all his servants in to look for the money. They searched every aspect of the house but a note said, “I’ve put the money in the bank so you can’t find any.” So Bill Gates left the house, and Sally was the richest girl in the world. Bill Gates and Sally were best friends and laughed when they heard this story.

The Adventure of Matt and Joe
By Tommy
One day a boy named Joe and his best friend Matt were in school when they saw a plasma screen T.V. being delivered. “Hey Joe want to steal the T.V.?” asked the Matt. “Won’t we get expelled?” said Joe in an excited voice. “Cool” whispered Matt. So the went to the teachers lounge. The delivery men were still delivering it. When they were finished Joe and Matt went in for the attack. They stole the T.V. without getting expelled. “Man I wish we could’ve got expelled” Matt said sadly. When they were outside Matt got tired and dropped the TV “Matt you wimp, why did you have to drop the TV” “I dropped the TV because I got tired. It’s a free country.” When the two were finished arguing, Matt got an idea. Joe and Matt went to Joe ‘s neighbors and stole his credit card.” Were probably going to go to jail if we get caught.” said Joe nervously. Matt just said “cool.” When they got to TVs and Lots of Other Stuff That I don’t Really Care About, Matt wanted the finest and biggest plasma screen TV they had. There was only one TV in stock. When the guy on the counter went to go get it Joe saw a nice TV that was pretty big and was coated in fine silk that was shinny. “Hey Matt look at this one. It’s a really big one.” Wow, it is pretty big. Bigger than the one we have now.” When the guy came out the two walked fast and carefully to the school. With out anybody noticing they returned the T.V. safely. “We did it” said Matt in a low voice. “Yeah but what about the one that we saw at the store?” Joe asked anxiously. So the two went down to the shop and got the TV that they looked at before. After plugging in the TV Joe and Matt’s neighbor came inside with a rage. “You guys are going down.” For a few minutes they got beat up. When the neighbor was finished he scratched the T.V and chipped it too. “It looks like we have to start over again,” said Matt. That’s exactly what they did.

Once upon a time there was a knife, an arrowhead, lightning, and a teepee. They were stuck in a showcase in a museum because of Jack the head guy. He had put them there. They wanted to be free. They asked the lightning to make a hole in the glass, but he couldn’t do it. The knife didn’t want to try. The arrow couldn’t do it. Neither could the teepee. So the teepee finally changed the knife’s mind. So he rammed into the window and made it shatter. The group ran away to the forest. They lived happily ever after. Well everyone except Jack, because his star attraction was ruined.

I want to be alive in 2005 because I get to have so much fun. I get to play with my friends. I get to spend time with my parents. I get to go to the diner and eat great delicious foods. Sometimes I get to go to fun places like a water park, the beach, the pool, or other places.
I enjoy my parents because I get to spend time with them. They cook good foods. On my birthday they gave me great presents and they invited my friends to a party. These are some of the reasons I am glad to be alive in 2005.

Lost in the Woods
By Hannah
Once long long ago in London in the time of castles, kings and magic there was a castle that was hidden in a deep, dark forest. In the castle there lived a young girl, who had never gone out past her backyard. One day when she was playing with her brother, they accidentally went into the forest. They drifted farther and farther into the deep dark woods. Somehow they got separated. Lisa called to her brother, but she did not hear an answer, so she sat down and began to cry. Suddenly a voice called out, “Why are you crying?” Lisa looked around, but she didn’t see anyone. The voice called out again, “I’m down here.” Lisa looked down and saw a caterpillar sitting on a rock. “I’m crying because I’m lost and I can’t find my way home,” Lisa replied. “Well, why you didn’t say so. I know this forest like the back of my hand,” said the caterpillar. Lisa stood up, picked up the caterpillar and asked him to help her find her way home. “Why yes,” replied the caterpillar. ”But first let me introduce myself. My name is Bugged. What is your name?” ”My name is Lisa.” She replied.
Ok now back to business. First they needed to find Lisa’s brother on the way. Soon the two started to look for her brother, Jon. They found him almost right away. The group eventually found their way back to their castle. Lisa put Bugged on a tree branch and said,”Thank you and good bye. “The children quickly ran though their yard and into the castle. Their parents were so glad to see them. After that they never wanted to leave the back yard again.
Dreams Can Come True

In the summer of 2004, a man named James Willis was speed-surfing only using his feet without a board & holding the handle with his mouth. He came back to shore and all the little children asked him how he did it. He told them, “I follow my dreams and I never give up. I hope all people learn never to give up.” Another man named, Sam Peterson heard and didn’t like it one bit. He never achieved any of his wonderful goals. “If I can’t achieve my goals,” he hissed, “Nobody in the world who didn’t will!”
Sam Peterson went to his house and made cookies saying, “You’ll never achieve your goals!” and wrapped them up. He handed them out at the beach and the children cried. It was Elizabeth Harmony who decided that they’d call James Willis.
“Mr. Willis! Mr. Willis!” they cried. “Look!” James Willis did not like this at all. They decided to put on a play about a girl named Julia who never gave up in the town square. Since Elizabeth decided to let James know, she was the main character. Sam Peterson understood this and he became nice and worked with James to help children achieve their goals.
This is what happened in the summer of 2004.

Bob and the Peanuts
By Mary
Once on a cheerful and glorious day, eleven peanuts were squirming down the mud streaked road. Almost at their destination, a hand crafted straw basket laid in front of their path, clean and freshly weaved. For a moment, they all stared at each other, before deciding they should take a long restful nap. One by one, each peanut hopped in, and slept in peace and quiet. Not too long later, Bob the pig woke up from his long and sweet dream. Before a moment’s hesitation, a humongous growl twitched Bob’s delicate ears. Indicating that he was hungry, Bob moved from the muddy and mushy mess he had slept in, and moved out to find food. However, it took him not too long to find the straw basket. A little worry and fear flew over Bob, but being starved, Bob charged towards the small basket of mystery without even knowing. As soon as he reached the basket, instead of grabbing it and shoving the tiny basket in his mouth, Bob peeked inside the basket, joyous to find eleven delicious peanuts inside. Happily he munched and chewed upon three of the eleven peanuts before walking off.
Popping out of a bush nearby, a small critter called the Three appeared. Hungry, it hunted around, looking for any type of berries, fish, meat, or best of all, peanuts! The Three found the small woven basket, and was giggly all over delighted to find the basket of eight good and fresh peanuts. Starved, the Three gobbled down the whole basket, eager to be bloated with fresh peanuts. Chewing viciously, the Three did not notice the mushy ground and its tracks molded upon the muddy ground. Before long, it scurried off to the small little bush where it lived.
Happily, Bob skipped his way towards the small basket once again, to chew on some more delicious peanuts. As soon as he got there, his black eyes widened with sadness as he stared in the area the basket once laid. Nothing was there, and all the peanuts were gone. Noticing the small Three tracks, he followed them. Before long, Bob halted at the small little bush, and found the Three. Bob stared at the Three, and after a moment of silence, spoke, “Did you eat the basket of peanuts?” The Three guiltily replied with a yes, and quickly afterwards promised another basket of peanuts for Bob. Gleefully, Bob accepted the Three’s apology, and walked home.
Months later, a small little basket lay in front of Bob cheerfully in the bright morning sun. Smiling, Bob reached out, and grabbed one of the eight fresh and delicious peanuts.

One day there was a small boy named Fred who wanted to work for McDonalds. Ronald McDonald believed he would be an enthusiastic employee so he said, “Yes” to hire Fred. Fred was overjoyed, he changed McDonalds into a better place. The first thing he did was hire more chefs. The health inspector wanted to get rid of their French fries. The only thing that stood in his way was Ronald McDonald. Ronald fought his way through the other health inspectors. At the end of the day he talked to the health inspector. This battle went on for a long time, but in the end Ronald won. French fries stayed as one of the favorite items on the menu. On the other hand, Fred made many outstanding changes that helped the business. He even made up a new menu! Everyone appreciated it. Fred and Ronald made a brand new jungle gym. They also included better toys with the kids’ meals. When the first customer came in he instantly thought who else would put such great toys in with a kids’ meal? Then another customer came in and thought that the changes were the most excellent ideas in the whole world! Fred thought it was cool to have so many people thanking him, and he was overjoyed. Meanwhile, Ronald was fast away at work in the kitchen. Ronald blurted out over the grill, “I need some help back here Fred”. Fred ran to help. Surprisingly, they got everyone’s order in! When the day was over, Fred and Ronald walked home with a lot of cash in their pockets. For the rest of the week it was hectic, but business eventually calmed down. By Alexander
My Imagination Studio is somewhere in a forest. I can’t tell you because it is private so I can think. In my Imagination Studio there is a desk at one end of the room with a little chair. The room has pitch black walls and a hard wood floor which is very smooth. There is only one small light bulb over the desk so I have to move around with a flashlight. I keep a refrigerator with hotdogs, root beer, chocolate, Pepsi, tacos, Redhots, bread, lettuce, chocolate milk, mints, spaghetti, and some water. My fan and heater don’t always work, but they are also there. The only way to get in is through a small thin metal crawlspace. You have to crawl on your stomach to get through to the opening. I can also relax in front of the TV on a comfortable rug or play PS2. That’s all about my Imagination Studio.
My Bad Burn
By: Anthony
One day, when I was three years old, I was watching “The Price is Right,” when my mom asked me if I wanted bacon and eggs. I asked if I could help. I was helping and I thought the eggs were done when I reached over to eat a piece of the scrambled egg and I slipped and put my left hand on the front left burner. I screamed and cried. My mom immediately ran my hand under cold water. After that, I laid down with my Batman pillow and brown, beige, green and red yarn blanket that my Nanny knitted for me. I woke up and there was no more pain. It was a miracle the pain was gone!

My Imagination Studio has the sound of waves beating the sand, has the sound of wild animals in their habitats, and it has the radio on to STAR 99.1. It has the sight of water beating the land, the sight of wild animals in their habitat, and the sight of waves hitting the beach. It has the smell of dogs, cats, and leopards. It has the taste of many types of candy, pizza, and milkshakes. It feels cold and warm at the same time. I can touch the snow. The snow feels as soft as leopard fur. I love my Imagination Studio.
I Remember
By: Chuck
On a hot summer day in July, 2004 I went to Mountain Creek in New Jersey. I went on this ride called The Cliff Rock Jump. I jumped off a cliff and hit the water so hard that I sprained my wrist. It hurt so bad that it felt like someone was putting twenty needles in my wrist. I guess it didn’t hurt so bad because I swam out of the water and did it six more times. Later that day I swung off The Tarzan Swing and I hurt my legs because I hit the water too hard. It felt like pins and needles running through my legs. The way it feels when your foot falls asleep. Here are just a few of the crazy things I did at Mountain Creek, but I sure had a blast!
I Remember…On Christmas 2003
By: Danielle
“Lets open this present T., It’s for both of us.” So we opened the present and we thought that it was clothes because it was in a Lord and Taylor box. It was a card that said, “Congratulations, Taylor and Danielle! On January 16th you will be getting a chocolate lab puppy.” Right then I was as happy as a little child on her birthday.
It’s January 16th and we’re on the way to get the puppy. We were at the Livingston exit only five minutes from getting a puppy. Five minutes later we’re at the house. We rang the doorbell and the owner of house said, “Come downstairs to see the puppies.” It smelled like doggy food, the breath of puppies yawning, and puppies. I saw golden and chocolate lab puppies, newspaper, and puppies’ toys. I heard puppies crying, barking, sleeping, and snoring. I felt the soft fur of the puppies, cold noses, and ears flapping. After we looked at all the puppies I said, “Let’s get the one scratching my leg.” He was a chocolate lab and the smallest and cutest. Taylor said, “Yes he’s the perfect one.” So we named him Duke.

My Imagination Studio is the weirdest place I had ever seen, but at the same time it was the coolest place I had ever seen. The sight had 6 volcanoes that were the size of Jupiter. Snow was blowing every where like a blizzard. My studio has one gigantic log cabin that was green, and that could fit 8,743 people in it. Outside my studio I can see 16 big snowy trees. The sounds were amazing! I could hear snow blowing, volcanoes erupting, and trees shivering. There were also great smells of cold snow, hot chocolate, and the new wood on the log cabin. I tasted the snow, the terrific hot chocolate, and the hot, hot lava sauce, but after I had the hot lava sauce my tongue was burnt. I put some snow on my tongue until the burning would stop. I touched the bark on the trees. The freezing, and the hot lava, but my hand was burnt. I stuck my hand into the snow so the burning would stop. My Imagination Studio was the best.
Giblets
By: Erin
When I visited my Aunt Debbie’s during the summer she was going to let me ride her horse Bob. He is a Thoroughbred. But Bob lost one of his shoes, and that prevented me from riding him. She wanted to let me jump, but since Bob lost one of his shoes I couldn’t. My aunt felt bad so she let me ride her donkey “Giblets.” So I rode Giblets. But when I got on him he took off toward the jump. I fell off. I was yelling at him until my Aunt Debbie was able to make him stop. Ever since that I have always laughed at it. And that was my experience.
My Imagination Studio
By: Jeremy
My Imagination Studio is amazing! I imagined it to suit me perfectly. The theme I gave it was a ski lodge. It has the smell of fresh baked cookies and rich hot chocolate. It also smells of fresh cheesy pizza, salty pretzels, and my favorite, buttery popcorn. The cookies are so fresh they taste like the world’s favorite baker baked them. The hot chocolate tastes so creamy the milk in it tastes as fresh as freshly milked cows’ milk. The pizza’s crust is chewy, because it is filled with cheese. The pretzels are warm and delicious. The popcorn has the perfect amount of butter on it. The ceiling is covered in snowboards with all different designs. The popcorn machine is as gigantic as the world’s tallest person at 8’11”. The floor is covered with a trampoline. The walls are crowded with snowboard posters. Couches surround the big screen TV and there is a giant CD player in one corner. The CD player plays rock and pop music, and the TV is always on 10 for the volume so you can concentrate when you imagine things. You can hear the popcorn popping. The snowboards are smooth. The couches are soft and comfortable. That is what my Imagination Studio is like.

My imaginary studio takes place in a city called Hopeville. This city is very colorful and bright. The roses are blooming, the trees are as tall as an apartment building, and the blue jays are sleeping on a branch. The sounds of Hopeville are as smooth as the wind blowing. For example, blue jays are chirping, the horses are neighing and the deer are running. This amazing place smells like ooey, gooey, cheesy pizza right out of the oven. In my imaginary studio I am able to touch and pet all different kinds of beautiful animals. When I’m in Hopeville, I am relaxed and have lots of fun, in my spare time. I enjoy creating origami. These are some of the reasons I enjoy Hopeville, my imaginary studio.
I Remember

“Hey, where did the fish go?” said my mom. “Yeah, and why does my fish have red dots on him?” I said when I was little. My family needed to know two things. First thing they needed to know was why was my fish the only one swimming in the tank? Number two thing they needed to know was, since when was my fish purple with red dots?! My sisters were crying because their fish were gone, but I was laughing and singing because my fish had red dots. One thing we found out was my fish had chicken pox. Oh yeah, my fish ate the others. I saw one fish with red dots and bubbles. I heard yelling from my sisters, bubbles popping, and tapping on the glass from my little sister. I smelled breakfast, smelly fish, and fish food. I tasted the breakfast I had milk and water. I felt cold air, my fish tank, and my blanket. That was my remember story!
My Imagination Studio
By: Krissy
My imagination studio is a giant rainbow net canopy outside in the forest. Everyday three different meals come. One meal for breakfast comes at 9:00 PM, lunch at 1:30, and dinner at 8:00 and dessert at 8:40.
It is an amazing place. You see the cotton clouds, birds flying, bugs squirming, a crystal clear brook, fish and beautiful flowers.
You can be put to sleep by the soothing sounds of birds chirping, wind blowing, and the brook swishing.
It always smells great. The dandelions smell like perfume, oranges smell wonderful, and the fish don’t smell good, but that’s
okay. Lots of things taste yummy there like bananas and oranges that are so fresh and you can make juice out of oranges too.
The grass feels like spiked hair. There is mist spraying against your body, dandelions rubbing against your ankles, bumpy rock under your feet and rabbits fur that feels like velvet. That is what my imagination studio looks like.

My imaginary studio takes place in my brother’s room. It smells like food because it is by the kitchen. It tastes like M&M‘s, penne pasta, lemon chicken, gravy, chocolate cake, and chocolate chip cookies too. The sounds I hear in my imaginary studio are peace and quiet. It feels smooth, soft, and fluffy. I see blue walls and wooden, smooth floors too. My imaginary studio also has a sand filled life preserver, three posters, a big smooth table with a small Thomas the tank engine train, and stuffed animals. It also has a big window where I get to see many beautiful things.
My Imagination Studio

My imagination studio is a cool place to be. The light purple walls, the red, yellow, green, and purple magic spiral door, and the beautiful cat posters, are all wonderful touches to make my imagination studio just right. It is so nice to hear the light wind and the birds chirping outside. Sometimes I’ll bring hot chocolate up to my desk to keep me warm and concentrated. I also love the feeling of the cat posters on my walls, they’re so adorable, the cats look so realistic, and it looks as if they’re coming to life. I also love the feeling of the soft, blue, carpet floor beneath my feet; it feels as if I’m walking on a cloud.
In my desk drawer I keep all kinds of paper including construction paper, white lined paper, blank paper in the colors white, yellow, both light pink and dark pink, and green. Also on my desk are a jar of pens and a jar of pencils so I have a choice of what I would like to use for each creation I make. Two more items I keep on my desk are two fuzzy picture holders, which I use to put pictures of my two adorable gerbils, Eda and Ginger.
My imagination studio is also my bedroom. It’s lovely to have windows too so I can hear the peaceful sounds of the birds and the wind. Sometimes, instead of listening to nature I listen to my radio, it’s always nice to have a change. Last but not least, my spiral door will take you anywhere your heart desires if you go in the door and imagine. I love my imagination studio, and I don’t think I could ever find a better place to be.

On a sunny day I was working in my studio on a poem. My poem is about the things in my studio. Some of my favorite things in my studio were the football shaped couch, the red white and blue swimming pool and hot tub, and the dog my family had for more than 10 years. We are not able to have her any longer because she passed away on November 26, 2004, and her name was Sunny .D. Dog. My dog’s favorite place for resting was the football shaped couch. What I saw in and out my studio was the blooming flowers, animals playing, and beautiful art work. What I heard was birds chirping, leaves crumpling, and children singing. My studio also had a waterfall outside with different flavors of soda. Last but not least I have a swimming pool full of ice cream.

In my imagination studio you can see inside a tree house, see the green jungle, and the fast water moving. You can also hear the water rushing and flowing, the animals roaring, and the rushing wind blowing. You can smell the fruits on the trees, fresh air, and the animals. You can taste root beer, fruit, and the taco. You can touch the wood floor, smooth leaves, and cold water is like frozen icicles. I like my imagination studio because I get to enjoy the cool jungle, the cold refreshing water, and the tasty fruits. I feel good to be alone in my imagination studio because nobody can bother me.
My Imagination Studio

My imagination studio has three great sights. The first one is the Dallas Cowboys beating the New York Jets. Second is the Dallas Cowboys beating the New York Giants. Third is the New York Mets beating the New York Yankees. Next, are the sounds I hear. I have three good ones. First is 50cent singing Candy Shop. Second is 50cent and the Game singing Hate It or Love It. Last is 50cent singing Disco Inferno. I have 3 great smells too. The first one is popcorn. Another is ice cream, and the last one is a Christmas tree. My studio has the 3 best tastes in the world. They are chicken, then nachos and last one is tacos. The things to feel are unbelievable. The first is the softest mattress in the world, next is a trampoline, and last is snow. That is my imagination studio. Doesn’t it sound like the best?
Bad Burn
By: Tessie
I remember Oct. 1st. I was in the shower. My dad yelled to Michelle to call 911. The ambulance came and the cops came. I got out of the shower to see what was happening. There was blood everywhere. I tried to find my dad, but I could only find Michelle. It was now 8:00 p.m. and I was crying because Michelle told me what happened. My dad had cut his arm with an electric saw. A cop came over to help me stop crying, but I didn't.
The next day my dad couldn't go to work like that. I was driven into school, because it had been a late night. I saw his arm and it was disgusting. Everybody was asking me what had happened, but I only told a couple of people. Today, my dad still has that scar.
The Tale of the Broken Finger
By: Adam
One day at my summer camp I was playing football, and I broke my finger. I was yelling at people as the nurse was talking to me. I held my finger as hard as I could. It was very painful, and I was very mad. I kicked a fence to let the anger out. Also I was wondering what my mom would say. My friends were nervously waiting as the nurse was icing my finger to make it numb. She also put a splint on it.
I was still very mad about this. So, as soon as I got home, I punched my pillow. I will never forget this day.

My Imaginary pink studio takes place on the beach. In my studio everything is pink. The walls, desk, my T.V., and even my shaggy rug are pink. Everyday I open the window, take off my shoes, and occasionally read. The studio is like a home; I sleep, cook, clean and read there. Sometimes if I’m tired, I run into the hanging beads in my doorway. It feels like the water running down my face. My days are fun and relaxing when I read interesting books. I love reading and when I read I feel wonderful. This is how I relax on the beach in my imaginary pink studio.
My Broken Thumb
By :Anthony
I remember the time when I broke my thumb. I was playing catch with my dad because I needed to practice for my baseball games. When my dad threw a fast ball I caught it, but it hit my thumb so hard it broke it. My dad rushed me to the hospital for x-rays. My thumb was very swollen, so they gave me a cast to put on it. Until this day one of my thumbs is a little bigger then the other. I wasn’t able to play video games or go to any of my baseball games because my cast was really a nuisance. However, soon it heeled.
Stapler!!!
By: Benjamin
I still remember it, but I wish I didn’t! It was an average, ordinary day, with my mom and I playing a game. Suddenly, I hit my head on the sharp edge of a table. My life flashed before my eyes. The first thing I felt was an aching in my head. Then I crashed on the floor violently. Then I was crying like … well, it hurt really bad.
My parents rushed me to the hospital, but as they rushed me through the door, I accidentally crunched my hand in the door way. My parents were speeding me to the emergency room.
We got inside and… well, you don’t want to hear about the stapling, I mean, it took about seven people to hold me down. I hope this doesn’t happen ever, EVER again.

My First Football Game
By: David
I remember a time in my life: my first time playing a football game. I remember scrimmaging and practicing before the first big game. I did blocking and tackling. One day when I was playing, I sprained my finger by catching a football. I was hitting hard and hurting people. When I clenched the ball, I was sprinting, and I scored. I kicked the field goal too. I want to play football again, hopefully in less pain.
Diving Boards
By: Devin
I can’t believe I was about to jump off a 6 foot diving board! This diving board was so scary! So then I did it, SPLASH! “I did it,” I said.
The sight of the water was terrifying from that high up. When I hit, it felt like it hurt because I hit the water so hard, but I was already in the water. As I was coming up for air I was thinking of getting out, but I actually liked it. After I hopped out I was giggling because it was outstanding.
After that I was continuously going off the diving board. Then I took a break and just swam for a while. That is one of the most spectacular stories I remember.
The Gingerbread Castle
By: Dustin
“Ow! Hey Pat did that guy have a real chainsaw?”
“Don’t know,” replied Pat.
Let me take you back a couple of days ago. I was at my house when my best friend Patrick called me up on the phone.
“Hey it’s me.”
“What’s up,” I answered.
“Wanna come to The Gingerbread Castle with my dad and me?” asked Pat.
“It’s a haunted house,” He said,
“Sounds good to me,” I replied.
So the next day, at night, we went to the Gingerbread Castle. As soon as we got there we got our tickets, and waited in line. When it was our turn a clown jumped out and shot something in the air (either that or it just made a loud boom and smoke came out.) Once we got in I heard a chainsaw going VEORT, VEORT, VEORT and then it stopped. We were there. The chainsaw man was right in front of us. I tried to go around him, but he moved right in front of me, with a dark mask looking like a panther with green eyes. Then he tried to cut off Pat’s foot that was our chance. So we ditched Pat’s dad and ran for it.
“Whew that was a close one,” I said.
“Tell me about it,” Pat answered. But I was still running. It was dark, I couldn’t see, and I ran straight into a wall.
“Hey Pat did that guy have a real chainsaw?”
“Don’t know, “Pat replied.
After that we got lost so we asked a bloody zombie for directions. We finish the Gingerbread Castle and laughed about what happened on the way home.

When I’m in my Imagination studio, I feel as happy as a butterfly, but at the same time sad. It is as dark as my cat’s fur, but at the same time bright. It can be hard or soft; it is beyond a studio. When you pick up the pencil, you can feel the magic, but at the same time the hatred. Every time you write, you can feel your heart speaking out to you. That’s what it’s like in Imagination studio .
The Pancake House
By: Ethan
When I think back long ago in my life, a good memory comes. I remember that I called IHOP “the pancake house”. It sounded noisy. There was a sticker machine there. It smelled great inside, and the food was great. We used to go for breakfast on Sunday. I remember it!
My First Time Out of Pampers
By: Gianna
Guess What? I got out of my Pampers! That day was one of the most spectacular days in my life, so far anyway.
I was all of 3 years old and my mom was pretty proud of me. Because my Pampers were now off I got a sticker chart. The sticker charts were for when I didn’t do stinky in my underwear. So on that particular day I got 2 stickers.
The next day when I had to go stinky I did the right thing. Then I screamed, “Mommy get down here. I did stinky in the toilet, not in my underwear. Do I get a sticker?” “Yes, Honey!” answered Mom. I’M A BIG KID NOW!!

My imagination studio is on the boat with my dad. The boat rocks like a rocking chair. I see fish, water, and other boats. The smell of gas, fish, and the lake water smells are nasty. I hear the motor, my dad getting a fish, and water splashing while I taste Little Bites, chips, and drink cool water. I touch bass fish, clean water, and the gas motor. That is my Imagination Studio.
When I Donated My Hair
By: Jenna Rae
Have you ever heard of Locks of Love? Well, I have. Locks of Love is an organization where you donate your hair to kids who have cancer and leukemia.
I was sitting in the hair salon while my hairdresser was clipping and cutting. As she was clipping and cutting I was talking to my friends, Carly and Krystina , while holding their hands. I was waiting nervously to see when she would snip off my 12 inches of hair. I looked in the mirror until she started to cut. Then I closed my eyes as my hairdresser cut. I was crying for about 5 minutes because I was in shock! I was upset and happy at the same time because it was for a good cause. I was extremely cheerful because it turned out well in the end.
My Imagination Studio
By: Kevin
Do you have an imagination studio? In my imagination studio I would see video games all over the floor with a path in it so I can get from place to place. There would be 20 T.V.s with chairs in front of every one. What I would hear is music. Every five minuets it would change from rock to rap to hip hop to classic. In my imagination studio I would taste cookies, pizza, cheese puffs, guacamole, Doritos, candy, spaghetti, subs, McDonald’s, and Burger King. Every three minuets the food will change.
I smell cookies that are freshly baked and pizza, with lots and lots of juicy grease. Cheeseburgers right from the oven, and have a very special smell.
I would feel X-box controllers when I work. The soft, smooth, edible carpet between my toes and my teeth, gives me a nice feeling.
That would be my superterrific imagination studio.
A Painful Experience
By: Krystina
Have you ever had a memory that you wish you could forget? I do! When I was 5, I was playing in the snow with my dad, having so much fun, until bam! I was on my driveway screaming and crying. I didn’t really know what happened. I just knew that it hurt badly.
When I got inside, my mom and my grandma were very concerned. My mom made me hot cocoa, and my dad got me some ice. He told me the story since I didn’t really know what happened. What he told me made me feel like the giant scrape on my face hurt even more. I wondered though, how did I manage to trip down a hill, and then fall flat on my face?
Just recently, I found a picture of me right after I fell on my face. I was not only okay, but smiling. I guess it wasn’t such a painful experience after all.

Do you want to know what my imagination studio is like? Well I see a roller coaster and a ferris wheel. I also see a playground with swings and slides, a sand box and tables with food on them
I hear kids playing and laughing, birds chirping, and all kinds of popping noises like popcorn.
I taste pizza, cupcakes, cake, orange soda, and candy.
I smell food, and s’mores burning like the sun.
I feel the whooshing of the roller coaster, like a hurricane.
I feel the sand in my hands dropping through the cracks in my fingers. I feel the warmth from the sun as I sit nearby the fireplace.
Thank you for visiting my imagination studio with me.

In my imagination studio I would have dog prints on the walls. While sitting on my bed in my imagination studio, my sister and I paint, color and draw all of the time. There are about five hundred dogs and they are all around me. There are six windows across one side of the wall. When I get hungry, I eat pizza. It smells like the ocean. I hear dogs barking and water splashing. When I’m in my imagination studio it’s warm like I’m under the covers of my bed. Painting and petting dogs are things I love to do when I’m in my imagination studio.
The Fallen Tooth
By: Patrick
One rainy day when I was 7, my sister, her friend and I were not aware that something tragic would happen. I tip-toed down the stairs, as silently as a mouse to see my sister and her friend concentrating on the computer monitor. I thought that it was the perfect time to attack my sister. So I charged as fast as I could right toward her. Then she turned, got up from her seat, and slammed me down onto the downstairs bed and laughed.
My sister’s friend snatched a metal flash-light that was nearby. At the time I didn’t know what my sister’s friend had, so I got closer to see. He grabbed it just to intimidate me, but he didn’t know I was behind him. When he turned around, “WHAM!!!” He struck me right across my face. Luckily, only my cheek and tooth were bleeding. I was frightened because my tooth was wobbly and I never had a tooth fall out before.
I ran upstairs and said, “Mom, my tooth is loose.” My mom replied by saying, “That’s good your tooth is loose. When did you realize it was loose?” I told her what happened with my sister’s friend and me. She screamed so loud the neighborhood heard her. Not 5 minutes later my tooth fell out. That’s the tragic story of how my 1st tooth got knocked out.
What Happened to Me When I Was Little?
By: Reema
Do you want to know what happened to me when I got hurt? When I was 4 or 5 years old I was running as fast as a cheetah in my mom’s room. All of a sudden I began falling and tripping, and I hit my face on the dresser. I was crying and bleeding. “Ahh!” I screamed! It felt like a knife cutting my hand. On the way to the emergency room, I whined so hard. The doctors had to put stitches near my eye. They said, “Reema, you would have been blind if you hit the dresser a little closer to your eye.” A reminder of this accident is when I look in the mirror and see the scar right near my eye.
Florida
By: Sam
“We’re so high up!” I said about five years ago.
Yeah, my parents and I were pretty high up when we were on the plane going to Florida.
We landed, went to our hotel, and relaxed. One abnormal part of the hotel was the nature walk. You could find lizards, birds, and trees everywhere! Another joyful place at the hotel was the swimming pool and hot tub. The pool had a waterfall that fell over the top of an artificial stone wall and into the pool. I attempted to jump through the waterfall and into the water, but the heavily falling water pounded me into the pool and wouldn’t let me back up to the surface. It felt like one hundred beagles were jumping on my head! I eventually got out of the madness and went in the hot tub. It felt relaxing, but I was getting bored. Then, I put my face in the water, started kicking and…”Look, I’m swimming!” Now that I look back on it, it wasn’t really swimming. It was just a basic maneuver for swimming.
Now, this part of my trip is something that many people do when they go to Florida: Journey into the Everglades! The Everglades is a swamp like place that can only be visited by boat. There are trees that grow out of the marsh and animals galore! You might find egrets, dolphins, alligators, manatee, and more!
My trip to Florida was fun and exciting. I hope I go somewhere like it again!

Imagination Studio
By: Alana G.
When I walk into my imagination studio every day, the first thing I do is look at all the exciting colors. I see white, black, green, blue, yellow, etc. It is filled with my thoughts for as long as an elephant trunk, in fact, it is never ending.
While I listen, I hear everything you can imagine, in all kinds of tones, like loud, average, and silent. It is very peaceful.
Whenever I sniff, it reminds me of something, like blood, new bloomed flowers, animal fur, and much more.
Every time I taste something there are good and bad tastes. For example, some bad tastes are rubber, stones, and salt water. Some delicious things are pasta, orange juice, freshly squeezed milk, and freshly baked cookies/brownies!
For how I feel, that is hard. This is because I feel everything! For example, I feel happy, sad, excited, angry, tired, scared, and active, to name a few.
If you want to come visit me, all you have to do is dream, whether it is in your sleep, or if you are day dreaming. You can do anything if you just imagine!

When I flow into my imagination studio, I feel like I’m in heaven! My eyeballs see my friends jumping from chair to chair, as if they were rock hopping at the park. There are baseball players warming up on the baseball field. In the background I hear crackerjacks snapping! The announcers are echoing as if we are in the Grand Canyon. All the fans are cheering and booing! My nose sniffs up the smell of cotton candy. The French Fries that my friends and I are gobbling up, smell so good! My pizza is so cheesy, and my Sprite is so refreshing. My feet would be freezing cold if I took my shoes off. I get so excited when the Yankees get a hit! I love it when I go to my imagination studio.
The Chase
By: Amy
“I think a red car is coming next!”
“No, you were wrong! It is a white one.”
“Oh, look a dog!”
All of a sudden the dog jumped out of the car window while it was moving! We were all in shock. The mean dog was chasing us. My sister, my friend, and I were so nervous. All of us were screaming our lungs out! Finally we got into the house, but I forgot to close the door! The furious dog came inside! The selfish dog was still hunting us down! I remember my friend screaming because she thought her little poodle was going to get eaten by the huge dog. My friend’s dad was shouting at the owner to control his dog. Finally the dog left and we were free. We noticed that there were blood paw prints on the floor. We realized it must have been from when the dog jumped out the window. He could have scraped his paws. This scary experience will haunt the back of my mind forever!
I am an animal lover. I hate to see animals being killed for fun. This happened a while ago when I was on vacation in Stone Harbor. I was just having fun at the house, when my uncle came home with a bucket full of fish. Since I love nature I was all happy and thought they were cute. When I saw the adults put it on a hook and found out they were bait for fishing I was not happy. I saved one in a bucket. I called him bait but my cousin said he wouldn’t last long. Bait was the best long lasting fish ever!
The Soccer Game
By: Brian
It was a cool and crisp morning at Germania Park. This was the last game of this very wild soccer season. Would my team finish in 2nd or 3rd place?
I was playing midfield for most of the game. The score was tied going into the 4th and last quarter. I was anticipating a win, but I also feared defeat. Before I knew it, there were only 10 seconds left to the game. The opposing goalie has possession of the ball. My hands were sweating like a leaky faucet. My heart was pounding like a pump, and fluttering like a butterfly’s wings. I started to tremble. Then suddenly the goalie released the ball. I saw it coming toward me. I started to sprint and went flying into the air taking big gulps of it. The ball and my chest connected. I was able to kick it high into the air and aim it toward the goal. It went in! I was stunned before I even noticed that I had scored the winning goal with only 1 second left on the clock. The crowd and my teammates went wild with screaming and cheering and celebrating. I felt sweaty and nervous. I was bursting with joy! Now my team had come in 2nd place in all the league!
Ambulance
By: Dean
“What do you guys want to play?” Andrew asked. “Tag," his brother replied. “No, we played that yesterday," I said. “How about we make-up a game,” said Becky. Everyone agreed. Everyone began to think. After awhile I had an idea. I asked, “How about ambulance”? “How do you play?” they wondered. Someone is the evil guy; one person has a wheel barrel and is the ambulance; the two other people are townspeople. The townspeople run around trying to get away from the bad guy. If you get tagged as a townsperson, you have to pretend to be hurt. Then the ambulance comes to pick you up, takes you back to the garage for a shock treatment and sends you out again. After the bad guy has two people tagged, the bad guy wins and we switch jobs. We agreed we’d play this game.
So we started to play the game, and we had a good time with it. Eventually it was my turn to be the bad guy. I decided it would be faster to ride my small bike and tag people. I rode around tagging people and was just about to win, when I fell and got my leg caught in between the chain and the bar by the pedals. I started to whimper because it was hot outside and I was lying on the very hot asphalt. Andrew and his brother came over and helped me into the garage out of the 95-degree sunshine. My sister said, “Dean, you are so faking it.” I yelled back, “Look at my leg, it is stuck.” “I’ll get mom,” Becky said. When Becky opened the door I could smell the delicious sugar cookies mom was making. I could hear my mom yell, “What!” My mom came into the garage with two sugar cookies and a glass of water. The sugar cookies smell and taste drifted my mind away from the pain, but my leg still hurt since it was stuck in the bike.
One of our neighbors, who is a nurse, came out to see what was going on. She ran back into her house to get Vaseline after she saw my leg in the bike. She rubbed some of the Vaseline on my leg and told me to try to pull my leg out. It didn’t work. It was getting hotter and more painful so, my mom called 911. After about a minute or so, I saw one fire truck and an ambulance and two police cars in the cul-de-sac. Then the dad next door came home and looked at me and went home to get tools. When he came back, he unscrewed the wheel. He had me slide my leg out and put the wheel back on. I thanked everyone for coming to help me. After that I went inside and relaxed. The ambulance game was over when we had to bring the real one. We never played that game again after the accident.
Fastest Roller Coaster Ever
By: Gabrielle
Today is the year 2002. I’m going on a ride with my dad. I’m so excited! When we were waiting on line we were watching the people zoom right pass us. I was very inpatient why we were online though. Oh yeah the roller coaster is called Rock in Roller Coaster. The Rock in Roller Coaster is pitch-black inside because they want it to be scary. Sometimes when it’s your first time going on you don’t know but it goes upside down twice! But you don’t really fall when its goes upside down. The roller coaster makes your feet, shirt, shoes, and pants glow. There are also signs in there that glow.
So now let’s talk about how I felt when I was riding it. (Trust me I didn’t feel so well after we went on the roller coaster) As we sat down the pole moved down so slowly that a slug can go faster than it. When it finally came down the roller coaster made a steaming sound. We were moving up and up and up, until it stopped out of nowhere. Nobody was screaming nobody moved. But then SCREACH the roller coaster went. Then all of sudden we fell so fast I was screaming like a noisy teakettle. Then when the roller coaster was over I was grinding and crunching my teeth. I kept on trembling down to the near exit. Now my dad had to go on with my sister. (He looked very depressed and nervous.) But he went on again. When they came out of the roller coaster my dad looked so tired he could sleep on an elephant with out even knowing.” Can we go on the roller coaster with you mommy” my sister Jaclyn questioned. Nobody answered. Then “Maybe tomorrow because you can go on with grandpa” my mom replied. But tomorrow we left. My sister was very depressed. But she got over it. That was the best Roller coaster I ever been on.
An Unbelievable Day
By: James A.
“Are you ready to play some ball? Yeah! Let’s go!” Dad said. On a very warm day we had a baseball game to play with the Cerbo league. We played a team from Hoboken, one of the best teams. When we reached the baseball field the other team was practicing already.
“Holy cow, they were good!” I said to myself.
Coach John got us pumped up and we ran out onto the field to have some fun. As the first inning went by the crowd cheered and roared for our team. Sweat was rolling down my face from the blazing hot sun as I was standing on the pitchers mound. Inning after inning, strike after strike, hit after hit, the innings went by. Now at the score of 4-4 the game was tied. Mike was up at bat, but he got walked. Now I was up at bat for the go ahead run. I took a good look at the field while smelling the fresh green grass. The pitcher threw the ball and it was a strike as the glove enveloped around the ball. Now the count was one strike and no balls.
”Come on James! Hit me a homerun over the fence!” shouted my dad.
”Ok dad, it’s time for me to hit one over.” I replied.
I started to have flash backs of when I first played baseball, but then I got focused again.
I gasped, “Come on James you could do it.”
The pitcher threw the ball and cling. It’s going, going gone… a homerun! The game was over. We won. Yeah! So as the day went on I got my homerun ball and we had won the unbelievable game that day.
My Imagination Studio

The outside my office is a dazzling garden. Inside I see an oak wood desk and a spinning chair. The best thing in the room is my dog Bruno. Sometimes I here a dog barking and it makes me smile. I here Bon Jovi’s greatest song, “It’s My Life.” This song makes me feel happy. I also play other music that I like. Some of the smells in my office are wet dog, ketchup, or the lovely smell of lemon juice. I eat spaghetti and it tastes scrumptious. I love all pasta sauces. Beef stroganoff is another tasty dish. I feel water squishing through my toes. I love to pet my dog and feel his soft cuddly fur. When I am in my imagination studio I feel happy.
When I dove off the high dive my body was trembling.
I peered over to see how many feet down it was. It was 6 feet down. My body was shaking with fear as I neared the edge of the board. I got goose bumps, as I was about to dive. I froze at the edge of the board and then instead of diving I did a cannon ball. I felt like I was going a 100 miles an hour down. When I emerged from the deep water I knew I conquered my fear.
I called to Drop, my rabbit, “Where are you?” I was looking for her while my dad was cleaning her cage. I went into the woods to look for her, but I could not find her. I was crying and screaming because she ran away. I was mad at my dad. The next day I went looking for her again and I saw her but she ran away from me. I never saw Drop again. I hope she found a warm place to live.
At the Go-Carts
By: Kevin
“Everybody buckle up.”
Then the people in charge of the go-carts blew their whistles. That meant go. I saw dust, lots of go-carts, the black road, people and backs of heads. I heard engines roaring, the wind blowing, people laughing and saying hello. I smelled gassy air and burning rubber. It felt bumpy and the seats were as soft as cotton candy. I felt like I was in control. I tasted dirty air that tasted like garbage in a dumpster, and a rubbery smell that tasted as bad as a rotten piece of meat.
We went twice to the go-carts. My sister spun around in a circle and hit the wall the first night. I went with my dad the first night. That was fun. But the second night, I went by myself. I went a lot faster by myself. My mom came with us the second night too. She made me crash. My three Uncles named Jimmy and my Uncle Mike were all crazy drivers. They were driving all over the place and bumping people out of their way.
Imagine That

When I enter my Imagination Studio in the beautiful island of Bermuda I see the ocean waves crashing against the sandy shore. Palm Trees wildly blowing in the wind like a drink swishing into a cup, make me feel refreshed. I feel the ocean breeze cooling me down on the hot sunny days. I open up my window, look out and smell the bitterness of saltwater. I taste the delicious Chicken Francaise I had eaten for dinner that night. I feel the pencil rubbing hard against my fingers while I write. I feel the squishy pillow I am sitting on. When I am in my imagination studio my thoughts run haywire. In this fabulous studio I am able to let my imagination run wild, non-stop.
My Fantasy Room
By Melanie K.
When I enter my fantasy room, I see pillows as soft as a cloud, my stereo, the mall, my accessories, and unusual sayings on the wall. I hear Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Destiny’s Child, Hilary Duff, Ashlee Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, Usher, and phones ringing off the hook! In my room I feel relaxed, comfortable, with stuffed animals and fluffy pillows surrounding me. I’m so excited ideas are popping out of my ears! Cookie Dough Ice Cream drips all down my face and greasy Chinese food covers my bed. Skittles are falling through the ceiling like raindrops from the sky. Foods that smell garlicky, salty, and like hot fudge brownies soar around my fantasy room. My fantasy room rocks, because it is chock full of my favorites!!!

When I enter my imagination studio I see football players playing their hearts out like when the United States fought the British. I hear the water fall that sounds like rain falling into an empty pool. I smell the popcorn popping that sounds like rocks falling from the sky. I taste cotton candy that is as fluffy as a pillow. I also taste Milk Duds that are as sweet as the smell of a new born baby. I feel rain that is dripping down my head like blood going into a vampire’s mouth. If you would like to be me in my imagination studio, then come and visit my wonderful world.
Imagination Studio

My imagination studio is a circular house. It is half under water and half above the sea. It is a two story house. It has a garden surrounding the house boat that is connected to the floating area. The garden is where the dogs run and the roses grow. The flowers are three feet tall in the middle of the shelter there is a giant apple tree that grows through the sealing. I have a blue twin bed with 20 purple pillows on it. I have a corner were I keep 50 of my stuffed animals staring at me in the eye. On the wall up-stairs there is a giant white board and curves around one fourth of my house. I have a desk down stairs where my house is under water and the walls are clear, so I can see the fish swim. My desk is eight feet long. On top of it there is a can of pencils as sharp as the Empire State Building, and a stack of paper. I hear the ocean banging and splashing against my studio. I hear the dogs barking outside as they talk to the sea. I hear the wind howling in the air. Sometimes it might only whisper. Most of the time, it’s simply silent. I usually hear the branches of my big apple tree shaking in the wind. I smell my red roses when ever I walk outside. I usually work with apples and chocolate cookies by my side, so it smells like chocolate. It also smells like apples from my tree and snack. I smell the crisp air. I taste the cold lemonade and crunchy carrots from my garden. I eat fresh lettuce and pumpkin pie from my well grown garden. Mostly I can have anything I want because all I have to do is type the food that I want on my food chart and it comes to me in three seconds. I feel my bouncy squashy floor. I feel my beaded bean bags. It feels like I’m floating and flying across the ocean. Most of all I feel safe. This is my imagination studio.
My Imagination Studio
By: Paula S.
When I walk into my imagination studio I see many things. One of the things that’s there is opened Hershey Chocolate walls that are hard as a rock but you can eat it anytime. The floor is made out of rainbow beads that are slippery as the floor on the ice skating rink that tastes like bubble gum. Also there would be a candy bar which is like a salad bar but with tons of candy waiting to be eaten by me. There would be a red chewy gummy bear fire and posters of my favorite singers on each of my Hershey Chocolate walls.
An Italian restaurant would be placed in the corner where I could eat anytime. The chef would be cooking fresh pasta, cheesy pizza, and buttery garlic bread would be around me too. It’d smell like baked ziti, chocolate baked cookies, and pizza that would still be cooking. There would be sugary whipped cream that is fluffy as a cumulus cloud on the wall where I lay. I’d keep all my ideas in my sparkly orange laptop. My imagination studio would be located on the other side of a door in my closet. Stuffed animals would be floating in the air so I could walk on it where I lay on the whipped cream. Pillows would be every where shooting out feathers I could leap on. My Imagination Studio is a special place and this is what it would be like.
Going Into Freedom
By: Samantha
As I step into my little world, out of the hustle and bustle, I see a peaceful jungle swaying in the wind to the north. When I turn to the south, I see a raging sea. The ocean is like a bronco, tossing waves every which way, and sending thunder across the sky. Its thunder matches the beat of my heart. Once again I turn to face a colorful sunset in the west. For the last time I turn to my friends in the east, coming out of a brilliant sunrise. Their smiles are broader than a half moon, smiling at me.
In my mind when I travel to my studio, I hear a laughing brook, making a soothing sound, with its soft pattering feet. From my friends I hear purring and mighty roars, loud enough to shake the earth. I hear birds singing their own unique songs, more enchanting than angel music. I hear branches colliding with a bush’s leaves, casting charms across the land.
I smell the soft fur and hard scales of my imagination friends. As I go into my mind I smell the damp lush forest. I smell the scent of blooming buds in the never ending meadow. I smell the lead of my pencil as I scribble ideas down.
Funny enough but I taste an idea on the tip of my tongue, but cannot get my mind to acknowledge it or get my hand to write it. I smell my Chinese dinner waiting for me. I smell sugar and chocolate chip cookies ready to be eaten.
I feel joy all around me, but in a warm silence. I feel sadness and happiness balance each other like ying and yang. I feel soft warm sand surround my feet. I feel my imagination going wild as I step out of freedom.
My Imagination “Station”
By: Sean F.
My Imagination Studio is the perfect place for me.
I see…
my chalkboard, as grandiose as a bunk bed to a toddler, my pictures, and drawings, fruit/vegetable garden. It includes all my favorites! I have a redwood desk with a lemon-yellow office chair, tan carpet, white walls, smooth as paper, and many different plants and candles.
I hear…
gentle, running water, music filling the room, and birds softly chirping.
I smell…
fresh fruits and vegetables, crisp, clean air, and many aromas from the assorted candles.
I taste…
cheese raviolis, tomatoes, plums, oranges, and other fruits and vegetables, spaghetti/pasta, grilled chicken, and fruit salad.
I Would Touch/Feel…
cold, crisp water. The air would be nice and cool.
I Would Feel Calm.
When Nicky Crashes
By: Tommy
“Nicky, are you okay?” I asked my brother.
“Yes, I am really okay," he replied.
I remember when Nicky fell off his four-wheeler. It was a cold fall day and we where racing.
“Did you break your four wheeler?” I asked.
“No, I didn’t break it,” he answered.
Then I jumped off my four-wheeler and ran to him. My mom ran as fast as she could. Nicky got back on his four-wheeler and drove to the house. Then I got on my four-wheeler and followed him.
When we got home, I told him I felt cold, scared, and tired when it happened. I also saw him falling, mom running, and the four-wheeler crashing. I heard Nicky scream, and the four-wheeler stop, and mom yell.
When we calmed down, my mom stated to make hot cocoa. I again told Nicky I thought he got very hurt and we had to take him to the hospital. He declared, “You don’t have to be scared. It’s my fault.” When my mom finished the hot cocoa, we slurped it up so fast that she got us another cup. I tasted creamy whipped cream and fluffy marshmallows. It tasted the very best. My mom said, “No four-wheeling for a while.” We agreed.
The First Time I Went to Egypt
By: Yaseen A.
It was a very hot day as if the sun was two inches away. There were a lot of people at the airport of Cairo. When we left we drove in a yellow taxi for the first time. I felt like I was dreaming. I drove through huge buildings and saw the beautiful Nile river and visited the Pyramids and Sphinx. The next day we visited Alexandria where I swam in the Mediterranean Sea. We also visited the great library of Alexandria.
It was a wonderful experience and I would do it all over again!!!!!!!!!!
The Turtle Imagination Studio
By: Zoe
When I enter my imagination studio I see all different kinds of turtles. There are box turtles, painted turtles, tortoises, and a lot of other kinds of turtles. I also see lots of water, as clear as the blue sky, for the turtles to swim in. There is a lot of sunlight for me to see. There also is a beach so the turtles and I can catch a tan. My ears fill with the turtles sweeping across the sand, splashing of the hard waves, and the droppings of the water fall. In my nose, I sense the saltwater when I swim in it and the fresh air when I walk in it along the beach and the small fish we are going to eat. The insides of my mouth taste vegetables, like carrots and lettuce. I also taste fruit like bananas and grapes. One of our favorite foods is shrimp. My hands feel the hard and bumpy shell of the turtles. I also feel the sand, hot as the sun glaring in your face, and under my feet I feel the water as I watch the turtles. My imagination studio is filled with wonderful things!
Imagination Sudio

Do you have a place all your own? I do. It’s my imagination studio. Before you enter you feel the soft cloud that takes you there. Next when you get there you smell the fruit on the trees next to my studio. Then there will be a pad to type the code to get in. If you get the code wrong you fall into the Pacific Ocean. If you get it right you go on. Once there you transported to a clear tube. That leads you to my studio. When you go in you should be careful. One wrong move and you will be held to the ceiling by your shoelace. If you fall down you will be hung again but this time they will be hitting you with stick going “piñata.” If you don’t get hung you will be surrounded by little boxes with people in them. When you go to the back of the building and find the back door there will be nothing to step on. So when you go back inside the boxes in the middle of the aisle. Their fuzzy boxes but are sharp because the spikes on them. On the second floor you will see 3 bee hives. Something else you will see is on 1 half of the floor there will be water. The last thing is the spider guy in his net. On this floor you will smell the air fresheners. Another thing is bathroom. The last thing is the sea monkeys. The only thing you taste is the endless pie. This is my studio.
When My Baby Cousin Marc Was Born
By: Brianna
When my baby cousin Marc was born the hospital smelt like medicine. Everyone was saying, “Awwww he’s so cute, what is his name?” His hands felt as soft as a cloud. I saw the he had
big beautiful hazel eyes and tiny pieces of brown hair. All I heard was crying, not only from my cousin but also all the other small newborn babies. I was so happy that I have a baby cousin! Plus now, I am not the youngest in the family!
My Favorite Place
By: Brittany
My favorite place is at the beach. You get there by digging under the ground. Then, you will reach a door. When you open the door you will have to go down a ladder until you reach the underground. When you are at the underground you will see a desk and there will be a different door there. That is a place where you can eat so you don’t have to cook when you are hungry. When I am at my desk I can hear the footsteps of people on the beach stepping on my door, I also have a dog so I can hear my dog barking. I can smell butter from my popcorn machine and I can also smell my hot chocolate. I can not only taste chocolate from my hot chocolate but also from my chocolate walls. I love my underground place and I will own it forever. I LOVE IT!

In my imagination studio you see alien pictures all over the walls. You feel like you’re in a secret cave in the woods. Anyone that goes in hears UFOs floating around on the ceiling. You feel rough edges on the floor. Also you see aliens popping out at you. You hear scary music creeping through the walls. You smell and taste your favorite foods from a choice of pizza and soda, or chicken and soda. You see popcorn in every spot you look, and it’s like heaven. You hear aliens talking to you trying to translate… but can’t. That is my imagination studio. Go there if you dare.
I Remember

I remember when I went to Philadelphia to watch the 76ers against the Celtics. I saw a great long 3pt made by Allen Iverson. Also there were many people yelling and shouting to the 76ers to win. I saw great players like Allen Iverson, Paul Pierce, Gary Payton, Ricky Davis, and Wille Green. My favorite player is Allen Iverson. The best things I saw were some great steals, assists, and dunks. Later I heard the ball dribbling, players dunking the ball, and balls hitting the rim. Swish, a shot is made right at the end of the 3rd quarter. I heard the buzzer. I was cheering because the 76ers were winning 85-72. I smelled hotdogs and the perfume of the woman sitting next to me. Also I tasted popcorn, French fries, and yummy root beer. I felt so happy. Wow the 4th quarter started. I was so curious. I wished that the 76ers would win. At the end the 76ers won by 112-100!
Imagination in the Imagination Studio!!

My imagination studio is very special to me. I have a mini jungle complete with a bright blue waterfall that is as bright as the day sky!!! I see the night sky as I lay in my clam bed because it is on my ceiling. If I put my hand(s) in the air my hand goes straight into SPACE!!! I see a mini food court in a corner complete with a pop corn maker, a soda machine, and a milk shake maker. I see the walls that are each painted differently, a T.G.I Fridays, a forest, and seashore. I smell the saltiness of the sea as I approach the shore. I smell the fresh pine as I approach the forest, and I also smell the heavenly tasting food as I approach the T.G.I Fridays!!! I smell the fresh night sky as I lay in my clam bed. It smells like an air freshener. I smell the foods in the food court. I feel my feet getting wet from the fresh natural dew that settles on my real grass rug. I feel my water from my waterfall. I feel the food and beverages as I approach the food court and the restaurant, Fridays. I hear my pop corn popping. It sounds like a crackling fire. I hear the monkeys in the jungle. It reminded me of my friend Krystina because she LOVES monkeys! I hear the ocean; it sounds like a big refreshing glass of water being gulped down into the body of water. I hear the waterfall as it makes me think of a waterslide. It makes sounds like SWISH, SWISH and POUND, POUND. I hear my friends and my laughter and to me it sounds perfect!
Skate Park
By: Gustavo
My imagination studio is the Skate Park. My friends are all there too. All my favorite foods are free and there are vending machines where you can get whatever you want. I smell the fresh tacos. I taste the pizza. I taste the hotdogs and the sandwiches. I also smell the wood from the ramp that the skaters are on. I smell the plastic wheels burning the wood. I touch the ramp that is made of wood and cement. I touch the skate boards of the skaters. I touch the famous skaters who are on the ramp. I feel happy and excited at the same time. I feel funny because I can’t believe I am meeting the famous skaters. Tony Hawk’s house, Bucky Lasek’s house, and Chad Muska’s house all surround the skate park so they can always be there with us. And that’s my imagination studio.
My Special Place

Do you have an imagination studio? I do and it is where I go to write my stories. Come on in and I will show you around. It is a rain forest as you can see. When I write I can hear the rain pouring down and dripping on leaves of trees .The sound gets louder when I am frustrated and smoother when I am on a roll. All the trees have different animals living in them. It could be a monkey, bird, squirrel or just a little insect. I have a special area. I sit in a nicely made chair, but it is not just any ordinary chair it is made out of leaves. It is so comfortable it is like I am sitting on a cloud. A bit of mist or dew is on my chair to keep me cool, especially when I am stressed. Next to my chair is a tree, but this tree is no ordinary tree. My monkey, Pear, lives there. You might wonder why I named her Pear instead of banana. Well Pear eats pears. That’s why I named her Pear. Whenever I finish a story Pear comes down from her tree and plays with me. While she plays with me the birds take my story and publish it. Also when I am finished writing different animals play music. One plays the piano and one plays the flute. Well I have a pretty good place here and it is time for Pear and me to go swimming, so bye.

When you enter my imagination studio I have a small couch with a television and game system in front of it. There is a kitchen and a living room. In the corner of the living room I put a lemon tree with lemons sour enough for the perfect lemonade.
My iguana lives in a tank on a shelf. My pig lives in a pen. I have a desk where I read and write. That’s my Imagination Studio.
When I Met My Friend Tom
By: Matthew
I remember like it was yesterday. It was a cool Fall Saturday morning in the park. The park was empty except for another boy and me. We were playing separately. He was playing on the swings and I on the monkey bars. The wind was blowing like in the old western movies when the sheriff and the bad guy face off and say, “Draw!” and the leaves were blowing like rolls of dust. I went over to where he was playing and I asked the boy, “What is your name?” He said, “Tom” and I said, “My name is Matt.” Then we became friends and from that day on we were friends.
I Remember…

At last we were in Canada. But a big ugly surprise lay ahead of us when we entered my grandma’s house. My aunt’s big fat ugly boyfriend was there! I had no clue he was coming, especially the day we had to come. When he saw us come in he gave us a look. He did this because last year he yelled at my brother and me. We kicked him in the knee, because he stepped on my aunt’s dog named Kanon. But soon he will have what he deserves. REVENGE….Sweet revenge!!!! Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!!!! I started walking toward the couch where he sat. I squished my nose with my fingers like a pig and started oinking like one too. I stretched my neck in front of him and started oinking like crazy! I think I spit on him a little. You might think I was crazy; however I was just 8 years old. But to tell you the truth I am proud of what I did. Although this is just the beginning, so I will do crazier stuff with my brother in the story later. My brother and I sometimes call the boyfriend squished tomato head, because in my video game there are some creatures that look like a squished tomato head. So while I was oinking and spitting on him he was yelling at me but who actually cares! A minute in a half later I stopped acting like a pig and ran to the guest room and called my brother over. We made a plan. We went back to the living room and noticed something so disgusting, so disgusting that I had to cover my eyes and my five year old brother’s eyes. The squished tomato head and my aunt were kissing! “How rude, especially in front of kids,’’ I thought. But then I noticed this would be an excellent time for the plan. I spotted a small opening behind the couch. This is so excellent. It will work out perfectly! We had to go back to the kitchen to get some stuff. Then my brother thought of a harsh idea. Hey, why don’t we set his head on fire! That will make him bald!‘’ “That’s a disgusting idea and thought,” I said. His head is like a bomb waiting for someone to light it up and KA BOOM! His body parts might even explode! Or he will burn the whole apartment! Or when his head shoots off, our heads will catch on fire and bye to us! But that would be a great idea if his head wasn’t a bomb. I told you I was crazy when I was eight! But smart too!
I had a new plan. We got from the kitchen scissors and ice cubes. Then we quickly fled to the bathroom while they were watching television. Thank god! We got make-up, eyeliner, perfume, a shaving machine, and lipstick. We also took some mascara and a camera. We went behind the couch and I was squished, but I really had to get revenge on this guy! First we took the scissors and cut a hole in his hair. ‘’Hey,’’ my brother Alex whispered, ‘’I am going to the bathroom to get the tiny mirror’’. “Okay,” I said. He ran out from the couch and went to the bathroom. I started to giggle because he hadn’t noticed that his head was bald. When my brother came back he told me ’’He will get what he deserves.’’ Then I took eyeliner and drew a face. Then we started filling it in with make-up! Thank god he doesn’t feel any thing! Then I smeared mascara around the face. Then I just realized that my grandma was watching me. I put my fingers on my lips to tell her to be quiet about it. Then I just heard the squished tomato head say to my aunt,’’ I feel sweaty.” I started giggling. Then I realized that this piece of work needed a finishing touch. I slowly and quietly cut another hole in his hair. I quickly put mascara inside the whole. Then I plugged in the shaving machine and then Alex quickly turned it on and shaved a big circle around his head. I wished that the machine could be silent. Before he could do anything I took a picture of his head. He screamed, “What have you done with my hairdo!” “I thought it was a wig!” I said happily. After I said that my aunt, grandma, my brother, and even my aunt’s dog howled with laughter. Thank goodness my parents were not there! They would have grounded me. And don’t forget my brother! That guy (the squished tomato head) just screamed and said through gritted teeth, “I don’t like your niece and nephew.” I will never come back here again!” Then my brother said something I thought he would never say, “Get out of my sight you hippy freak!’’ Then the squished tomato head just moaned and left without another word. After he slammed the door behind us I came to the door and locked it. “It’s time to party!” I said to my family. My aunt told me it was funny what I did, but it was wrong. She told me that I helped her stay away from him. Then she said, “Well it’s time to celebrate.’’ She went to the store with me and bought party favors, ice cream cake, cheese doodles, soda, and other tasty snacks. When we came back home my grandma made us a surprise dinner and rented movies! As soon as we ate dinner we put snacks, soda, ice cream cake, plates, and cups on the table. Then we turned on the movie and started our party! It was a blast! My aunt found another nicer boyfriend who gives us free pizza!

Last year my rabbit got attack by a 500 lb. bear!!!!!!!!! She was only 11 months old. There was a bear in our neighborhood and some people had the bear eat their garbage or scratch their fence with its jagged claws. The next morning my parents told me what happened. I ran outside and found my rabbits cage turned over. I was afraid she was eaten. The front of the metal cage was smashed in! She was hiding in her little house. I opened the cage and stroked her softly and gave her a hug. I heard birds chirping in the backyard while I was hugging her. She was alright for the next few nights…but I still checked on her some more. I’m just glad she wasn’t eaten.
The Victory
By: Rachel
It was the last event on the last day of color war. If my team won in flag football, we would be the winners of color war. The question was what team would we play against? To my surprise, the opposing team was my brother, Brian’s team. This was going to be a challenge! Brian’s team was way ahead in every event. Would they continue to be unbeatable? They had won regardless of the weather. Mud, fog, rain (like today), it didn’t matter. Today I could smell the dampness in the air and the earthy, grassy smell of the ground. In the background, I could hear my friends cheering me and my team on to victory. I hoped. Hearing this made me feel happy. That is, until I heard the other team boasting about how good they are. Then my concentration was broken by the sound of the starting whistle.
Emma passed me the ball right away. I passed to the team captain, Jimmy. He ran like the wind and touchdown! The score was now 7-0. By the end of the 1st quarter, we were tied 7-7. I started to wonder if my hopeful feelings would be mashed into the mud.
The 2nd and 3rd quarters were the same as the first. Each team scored another touchdown. The 4th quarter started with a score of 21 all. Team members and the crowd were pumped up. I heard screams and cheering. Red team! Yellow team! The minutes passed quickly as we ran, kicked, and passed the ball. There were 5 seconds left. The ball was mine. I was nervous! My heart was pounding. My hands were sweaty. I passed the ball to Jimmy. He sprinted past Brian and everyone else. TOUCHDOWN!
Buzzzzz! The game was over. The yellow team wins! The smell of victory was in the air, and boy, did it smell good! The crowd went wild with yelling! Y E L L O W, Y E L L O W, Y E L L O W was the chant.
Jimmy and I gave each other Hi 5’s. “Great T.D., Jimmy”, I said. “Thanks Rachel. We all played a great game!”
My Favorite Fish...DEAD
By: Stevie
“I told you not to tell him,” my mom said. “He was going to find out anyway,” my sister exclaimed. What I found out was that my favorite fish, Catty, the catfish died. I saw my sister digging his grave. My fish was in a see through container. I saw him getting put into the hole. I was asking what happened but nobody would listen. I could smell humidity in the air along with mud. Far off somewhere I could smell bacon. I wanted to touch Catty before he went into the hole. I even wanted to touch the mud from where he was being buried He was like a brother. I also felt mad that I didn’t feed him. At the same time I felt happy that I had a fish as special as this one. Over all it wasn’t a good day.
My First Basket in a Game
By: Taylor
When I got my first basket in a game I was in third grade. I was guarding a tall girl named Jessica. She stopped dribbling the ball to pass. I quickly slapped the ball out of her hands and ran as fast as my legs could take me to the basket. Everyone was cheering and yelling, “Hurry, run, you can do it!!” I was smiling.
I could hear my heart pounding loudly in my chest. I jumped high and shot the ball. It went in with a swish. Everyone yelled, “Yes!” My team ran over and gave me high fives. I had finally made my first basket in a game.
A Little Puppy of Mine
By: William
Do you have a little puppy? Well I do. Her name is Pepper. One day I was playing with her. We were playing down stairs by the big screen TV and by the couches. Every time she heard something, she would bark. Whenever I’d pull her tail, she would snap at my hand. When I played with my dog, I would get dog fur in my mouth and it would taste bad. Also when I play with her, she burps. It smells really bad.
When I go to play with my dog I throw a ball to her and she brings the ball back to me. When she brings it back, there is lots slobber on it. When my dog goes somewhere, she wants me to pet her fluffy fur. Now you know about my dog Pepper.
